5/51 Manor House

GV II

House. C18, rebuilt in 1868 by the Lovelace Estate. Red brick in rat-trap bond with
knapped flint to gables on left and right; low p tched hipped slate roofs. Two
storeys with decorative round stacks of terracotta panels on gable end to left,
brick stack to centre, ribbed ridge stacks to rear left, right of centre and to
right end. Oval panel in gable to left, arched niche in brick, roll moulded surround
to right hand gable. Diamond date plaque to centre chimney breast. Projecting gabled
end bays and projecting chimney bay to right of centre. Terracotta and brick
decorative panel band over ground floor left and centre, plat band over ground floor
right. Alternating brick dentil bands to eaves and around right hand gable. Neo-
Norman style window surrounds with deep, ribbed brick, 3-step,rollmoulded edges.
Casement fenestration with stepped lights to window in left hand gable. One window
to each floor on gabled bays, and to bays either side of entrance. First floor window
on chimney breast in arched surround breaking through the eaves. 4-step,roll moulded
arched brick surround to ground floor of chimney bay enclosing main door. Further door
on right hand return front. Flint and brick wings at right angles to rear.
