House, now divided and converted into offices. Late C15/early C16 with late C17/
early C18 front and parallel early C18 range to rear. Further extended to rear
in C19 and restored in early C20 by M. H. Baillie-Scott. Timber framed on chalk
block cellar and lower ground floor walls. Whitewashed render infilling to
exposed frame on right hand return front and to rear; colourwashed rendered
cladding on front; plain tiled roofs with tile hung gable end to right. Two
storeys and attics over basement/cellar to rear where ground drops away. Stacks
to rear left of centre on front range and to rear on extensions. Two segmentally-
headed 12-pane glazing-bar sash dormer windows on front over bold modillioned
eaves cornice. Irregular fenestration on the first floor comprising two
segmentally-headed early C18, 12-pane glazing-bar sash windows to left, one to
right. One fixed glazing-bar window to ground floor left, two sash windows to
right; one 12-pane and one 16-pane. 6-panel door to right of centre in Ionic
pilaster surround with deep frieze and shallow flat hood over. Right hand return
front (facing Rosemary Alley): Frame exposed and showing top storey addition in
early C18. Tension bracing on first floor and irregular casement fenestration.
Parallel gable to right, jettied on first floor with one casement window on each
of two floors and sash window to right. Muntin panelled door on ground floor.
Rear:- Rendered gable end projecting to left with plat band over ground floor.
Further gable set back to right with bands of fishscale tiling and leaded, square
oriel window on the first floor over recessed door.
Interior:- Substantial frame exposed with arched bracing on ground floor rooms.
Wide ceiling joists to rear rooms with some panelling. Staggered butt purlin roofs
on parallel ranges.
