House. 1901 by Sir Edwin Lutyens. Whitewashed brick with Mansard style plain-
tiled roofs. Y-shaped "papillon plan" with two wings canted forward from centre.
Two storeys. Patterned brick stacks, one stack on the ridge of each wing,
further stack to rear. Pilaster pier articulation on front with one pier on
angles of outer ends. Central casement window to first floor with gabled bell-
cote over on braces. One first floor window in canted faces of side wings, one
window on each end between the angle piers. "Cross" shaped windows on the ground
floor. Half-recessed oval porch with half-glazed door to rear wall. Half-oval
portico on two Doric columns, on brick pedestals, with marked entasis to front.
Deep eaves and plinths to ends of wings. Dormer windows above in roof. Left
hand return front:- flat roofed bay window to ground floor. Single storey wing
to rear. Service court behind around a rectangular yard and linked to the main
house by tile coped walls.
