Buckham Hill House
The description should be amended to read
Farmhouse. C16 front pile, pre-1500 rear. Early C20 exterior details. Timber framed,
tile hung with brick skin rear pile, old tile roof. 2 storeys with attics, front and
rear pile forming "T" plan. Front pile to garden has 4 bay, 2 cell plan with baffle
entry with stack. 3 ground floor 3-light and 3 3-light and one 2-light leaded
casement windows in timber frame.C20 hipped porch addition. Brick stack with 2 flues,
massive corbelled out cap. Central 3-light casement under hipped gable. Hipped roof.
Interior has 3 cell baffle entry plan with 2 diamond wooden mullioned casements in
ground and first floor rooms at north. Stopped and chamfered spine beams throughout,
substantial framing. Rear pile c1500 build has ground floor room now divided into
2 with stopped and chamfered spine beams, and stopped and chamfered joists.
Substantial angle posts and plates crudely chamfered. In-built stack. Stairs
in-built in bay between C1500 and C16 build, with C20 traditional idiom, C1600 style
balusters. Paired collar and rafter roof to C1500 build, unusual Queen post truss
purlin roof of 4 bays to front pile.
