One of the best timber-framed buildings in Sussex. Dated 1575. Half-H plan.
Timber-framed building with plaster infilling, restored and enlarged. Ground
floor close-studded on a base of stone and red brick. Casement windows of
2 tiers of 4 light each with wooden mullions and transoms. Above ornamental
circular timbering. Gable at each end oversailing on moulded bressumer and
brackets with carved bargeboards. Bay window below the west gable projecting
on brackets. Tiled roof. Two storeys and attic in gables. Four windows.
Later additions behind. The interior has fine fireplaces and overdoors.
