Maskett's Manor Farm Barn
GV
II
Barn. Late C16 or early C17. Timber framed barn clad in weather-boarding with
steeply pitched hipped tiled roof with off central later gabled midstrey.
Sandstone footings to rear. 3 bay barn, aisled to one side. Massive jowled
posts on brick padstones. Old rafters with no ridgepiece, chamfered tie beams
and angled queen struts with through purlins. Windbraces to central bay. Corner
post to midstrey is reused top of a wall plate. Aisle has chamfered wind braces.
Inserted floor with 6 C20 posts supporting it. An unusual feature is the
integral lean-to on the right hand side, of the same build because the sandstone
footings continue into it, the wall frame has similar windbraces and the barn
roof is cantilivered out over it. Some old wide oak weatherboarding to lean-to.
