Cottesmore School moved here from Hove about 1955. Huge late cl9 mansion
in Elizabethan style built in 1882-3 for P Saithard, ostrich-feather merchant.
Eshart George and Harold Peto Architects. Half-H. plan. Built of vivid red
bricks. Three storeys. Twelve windows. Horsham slab roof. Tall brick chimney
stacks. Casement windows. Shaped gables to wings. Centre portion has a
6-storeyed tower with balustrade and a turret corbelled out of its top 3
storeys at north-east corner. Porte cochere to north-east of tower with balustrade
over.
