C18. 3 storeys, 5 window bays, red brick. Tiled hipped roof. Small cornice
with modillions below eaves. Sash window in reveals in flat arches; rubbed
brick voussoirs; glazing bars missing. Smaller windows on 2nd floor, 1
blocked. Window blinds. Doorway with Doric columns pediment and semi-
circular fanlight (with modern stained glass inserted). Modern shop front
to right of window. A plaque between 1st and 2nd floors commemorates that
it was in this house that Keats began to write "The Eve of St Agnes" in
1819. (See R Getting's book "John Keats: The Living Year".)
