Cottage. Late C16 2 bay timber-framed cottage, refaced in late C18 or early
C19 and extended C20. Original part has north front with exposed square framing
with some diagonal braces and west front of red brick on ground floor and tile
hung on first floor. Half-hipped tiled roof with 1 chimney stack set back behind
ridge line. 2 storeys. 1 modern casement to north, 2 modern casements to west;
one 4-light and one 2-light. Later C19 doorcase in lean to extension with
plank door and penticed tiled weatherboard. Late C18 to early C19 2 storey
brick service extension to east with simple plank door, altered early C20 to
form further accommodation. Interior contains spine beam with run out stops
and some exposed square framing. Documentary evidence of the property having
been sold in 1595 (See Gabe and Ford "The Metropolis of Mid Sussex" p 17).
