Remains of early blast furnaces built in the 1750s. Some curved brick walling is
visible but the area is much broken up. On the original list it was described as
having "semi-circular headed opening into hillside with iron supporting ribs".
This must have been the adit to a coalmine which has since been obliterated though
it might still be intact underground. The area would need to be excavated for proper
identification.
