Forge. Late C18. Sandstone rubble; roof of pantiles with stone slates
at eaves and stone gable coping on curved kneelers at front. One storey,
3 bays. Central boarded door flanked by windows with external shutters,
all under flat stone lintels; projecting stone sills. Low sloping walls
front and rear form shelter at left return. 2 end brick chimneys. Historical
note: the only surviving example of the many workshops of Winlaton producing
iron goods, an industry begun here in 1691 by Ambrose Crowley.
