7/1 Brandstone Scar

House. Mid C17, restored late C20. Coursed squared gritstone, graduated
stone slate roof. 2 storeys, 3 bays, 4 first-floor windows. Central C20
glazed door in surround with roll-moulded chamfer and shallow 4-centred arch
to large lintel. Recessed-chamfered mullion windows, possibly retooled.
Ground floor, left: 5-light; right 5- and 2-light with narrow light between.
First floor, left to right: 3, 3, 3, and 2 lights. Concave moulding to
continuous hoodmoulds, shaped kneelers and end stacks. North Yorkshire and
Cleveland Vernacular Buildings Study Group Report No 286 (1977).
