8/153 Wickets Green Farmhouse
II
Farmhouse. C16, C17 rebuilding. Flemish garden wall bond brick,
tiled roof, axial brick stack. Baffle-entry, outshut on east side
enclosing continuous jetty and stair turret. Central 4-panelled
door in gabled porch, C20 metal casements to either side, first
floor has three 2-light casements. Left return is slate-hung with
gable projecting above eaves-level, on carved wooden brackets.
Right return is slate-hung, single-storey extension has three stone
tablets on south gable with incised lettering; 'R1656B', '1656' and
'RCMC'/RhB. Rear has C17 outshut and central stair turret with
hipped roof, planked door and casements.
Interior has mid-C18 newel stairs with turned balusters in turret,
some C17 panelling, planked doors. Timber-framed jetty, now
encased in outshut has hollow-chamfered jetty plate. 4-bay roof
has raking struts to principals, butt purlins. Original build
consisted of 4-bay timber-framed house with jetty on east side,
rebuilt in C17 with outshut and stair turret, refaced in brick late
C18.
