Farmhouse. Mid C18; C18 or early C19 cheese room addition; altered. Faced in
red brick with blue headers in Flemish bond, otherwise rubblestone with brick
dressings. Graduated Cotswold stone slate roof with pantiles to addition. 2
storeys with attic. 3-bay main range with 3 short parallel rear wings, the left
wing with cheese room extension to rear. Entrance front: central door of 6
flush panels (top 4 glazed) with keystone masked by later gabled porch of red
brick with stone, round-arched opening. C20 small-pane wood casement windows of
1 light over door, otherwise 3 lights, all having flat brick arches with key-
stones (some now concrete), on ground floor with concrete sills, on 1st floor
with tile sills. Half-hipped roof with corniced brick ridge stacks to outer
rear wings, that on right with stone diamond dated 17(87?); and another between
left-hand wing and extension. Rear: central board door with 4-pane overlight.
On left, C20 flat-roofed infill block (not of special interest) against former
yard wall, which has former bread oven at front. Right wing extension has
blocked former ground and 1st floor doors, the latter now with window, and ends
of purlins visible in gable. Segmental header-brick-arched windows to main
range and returns of wing extension. Right return: front range has 2-light
attic window with overlapped glass; wing has later sash with glazing bars below
wedge lintel. Left return, probably early C20 bay window to front range and
2-light attic window; a window to each floor of wing. INTERIOR: front range has
brick-infilled stud partition walls. Old board and panelled doors including
board door in rear gable of added cheese room which also has large-scantling
chamfered beams with run-out stops. Old floor boards to 1st floor and attic.
Wooden winder stair to attic which has one old metal casement frame with decora-
tive catch (in right gable) fand 5 roof trusses with wide-spaced raking queen
struts, curved collars, chamfered staggered butt purlins and mostly old rafters.
