Hostelry, C19, on site of earlier inn reputedly dated from 1515.
Roughcast over rubble stonework, Slate roof. 3-storey, 3 bays
with central entrance and carriageway through 3rd bay to rear yard.
Stack backing on to carriageway. Remains of timber framed gallery
around yard. Canopied entrance, canted bay windows to ground and
first floors with margin glazed sashes. Carving in spandril
panels. 3rd floor windows 4-pane sashes with architraves and
bracketed sills extended as string. Paired stone modillion
cornice. Bracketed sign with very large gilded bell. Listed for
group value only.
