SU 09 SE THE LEIGH UPPER WATERHAY

5/227 Brook Farmhouse

Farmhouse. C18 or C19. Limestone rubble with ashlar doorcase and
windows. Stone slate roof. Two-storey and attics, 3 bays,
extended right by 1 bay, single-storey and attic, and brick
extension to left. Early-mid C20 central boarded door in moulded
stone doorcase with stepped hoodmould. Flanking slit lights.
Contemporary 3-light stone mullioned windows, also with label
moulds. Two hipped dormers and left gable stack. One dormer to
right extension, which also has gable to rear, extended back as 2-
bay brew/bakehouse with projecting oven in gable. To rear of main
building 2-storey wing, with later link, and further tiled
outbuilding with external steps.
Interior has moulded ceiling beams and close studded walls to
central stair hall and room to right.
