5/189 Hailstone Farmhouse
II
Farmhouse, C17. Limestone, stone slate roof. Two-storey and
attics, 3 bays. Central pitched porch with moulded entrance and
label hood. Quatrefoil panel over. First and third bays gabled,
with 3-light ovolo moulded windows with labels on each floor, and
square attic light in gable with timber lintel. Small gable to
central bay. Gable stacks and moulded copings. Laced valleys.
Rear wings to bays 1 and 3, to bay 1, 2 storey with hipped end. To
bay 3 extended in C19 by 2-storey roughcast block with central
stack.
No original fireplaces internally. The building is said to be
built for the head forester of Braydon forest.
