Farmhouse, medieval origins, C17, altered C19, rubble stone,
formerly roughcast, with concrete plain tile roofs, coped gables
and ashlar end stacks. Two storeys and attic, 4-window range.
West front has three gabled dormers, four first floor C19
tripartite sashes, ground floor 2-light cyma-moulded recessed
mullion window of late C17 type to left and, door flanked by C19
tripartite sashes. Six-panel door is in c1700 bolection moulded
surround with hood on brackets, but obscured by C20 rubble stone
and imitation stone Tudor-style porch. Removal of roughcast has
exposed remnants of other mullion windows, but cement has been left
over lintels of C19 windows and to jambs of upper windows. Rear
wing has coped east gable and heavy cornerstones. Very large first
floor blocked arched-headed window with hoodmould on east end wall,
probably C17. Additional north east rear wing added in angle.
Interior: rear wing has fine first floor pointed keel-moulded
doorway, possibly C14. Front range left room has fine wave-moulded
centre beam with bar and run out stop.
(Illustrated in 'Draycot Estate sale catalogue 27.7.1920, roughcast
and with only 2 dormers)
