8/77 Southsea Farmhouse
GV II
Farmhouse, later C18, on C17 core, rubble stone with Bridgwater
tile hipped valley roof and centre stack. Tall 3-storey, 2-window
north front of cyma-moulded flush 2-light mullion windows with
small-paned sashes. Ground floor has one window and door, possibly
C19 addition with C20 hood on brackets. South front, of equal
height has one-window range of similar 3-light windows, set to
right and one-window range of 2-light windows in west end wall. A
former dairy and cheese room extension to west, probably later C19
has part stone-slate roof and 2-storey elevations of cyma-moulded
flush mullion windows. Converted to extend house c1975 by O.
Brakspear with various matching openings on south side.
Interior: ground floor south-east room has stone moulded Tudor-
arched fireplace of C17 type and room above has some early C18
fielded panelling. House is not apparent on 1773 Andrews and Drury
Map, though Southsea Barn is marked.
