Detached house. Circa 1700. Flemish bond brick with stone
dressings; chamfered quoins, stone slate hipped roof with brick
stacks to rear roof pitch. L-plan with added wing to rear right.
Two-storey and attic, 3-window. Central C20 double doors in
bolection-moulded architrave with broken pediment and urn, 3-light
cyma-moulded mullioned and transomed casement either side. Moulded
lintel string course. First floor has 4-pane sash in moulded
architrave over door and 3-light mullioned and transomed casement
either side, moulded stone eaves cornice. Three hipped attic
dormers with 2-light casements. Left return has C20 oculus to
first floor, C19 wing with paired sashes. Rear has contemporary
wing to left with C19 door with canopy, mullioned and transomed
casements, flat roofed addition in gap between wings.
Interior retains good original features: dog-leg stairs rising up
to attic with turned balusters to closed string, wide moulded hand
rail with square newels, moulded cross window retained in former
external wall behind stairs. Chamfered cross beamed ceiling with
ogee stops and open fireplace with timber lintel on brick jambs in
room to left of entrance, fireplace with curved brick back in right
hand room. Good 2-panelled doors with H-L hinges.
