First rated 1795. Fine town house altered by new roof and removal of chimney pots.
3 storeys and basement with flanking wings 1 storey and basement. The basement
above ground. Bath stone front. Projecting plinth, string at ground floor cill
level, string and small cornice at 1st floor cill level. 4 Ionic pilasters through
1st and 2nd floors, with moulded bases and caps and fluted necking, supporting
fluted frieze (alternate flutes treated as Rodney House qv); moulded cornice and
blocking course. Hipped machine tile roof with flanking chimneys. 3 ranges of
windows and 1 in each wing. Ground floor windows palladian in arched recesses.
All windows with glazing bar sashes. 6 panel modern central door, arched fanlight
of radiating and curved pattern with leaf enrichment, in similar arched recess
to Palladian windows. Approached by double flight of curved steps with plain wrought
iron guard rails and slender baluster standards. Lunette type basement windows,
central entrance under steps. Contemporary plaster decoration to entrance hall.
